Property 2 Bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment in West London.

The apartment had been let out for a number of years and needed a lot of work. There were 2 decent sized bedrooms with a large living/dining room and a galley kitchen.

Brief The client was setting up home with their partner and wanted to refurbish the apartment in a modern contemporary style. The number one priority was a luxury bathroom.

The apartment was in a busy, noisy area of central London. They wanted a simple, modern look but with a welcoming feel. The plan was a complete refurbishment with new flooring, all new lighting, complete re-decoration and a fabulous new bathroom.

We developed a warm but subtle scheme with a simple palette of materials – new oak flooring, modern wooden furniture, some low key changes of colour in each room, plain fabrics for full length curtains, marble bathroom tiles and chrome fittings throughout.

Lighting and colour were the keys to the transformation of this apartment. New ceiling, wall and table lights provided a warm, welcoming mood as well as being practical for everyday tasks. In each room, some warm colour was introduced, either on a feature wall or through artworks and accessories.

In the bedrooms, bedside tables, lamps, curtains, rugs and artworks completed a look that was modern and comfortable. Small details were considered in all areas, such as new brushed chrome light switches and door handles.

The bathroom was to be a 5-star hotel style space. It was fully tiled in a warm creamy marble. Both concealed and open storage were built around the wall hung WC and generous washbasin. Again new lighting made an immense difference, a new power shower was installed.

This was a ‘turnkey’ project – the client moved out, we ‘moved in’ to make it all happen as quickly as possible. The client was able to offload all the stress to us and came back to a completed renovated, furnished and accessorised new home. All she had to do was to enjoy living in her chic new pad.
Contractors

The works for the apartment required the co-ordination across a range of trades and contractors. In addition to the visible work such as flooring and bathrooms, we also updated some of the practical aspects of the apartment. These included new security system, secondary double glazing and electrical rewiring.

Prior to starting any work a full set of work instructions were written to ensure that no detail was left out. This also made sure that work estimates are very accurate.

The contractors involved included :-
  • Security specialists
  • Glaziers
  • Plumbers
  • Tilers
  • Decoration
  • Electricians
  • Flooring Fitters
  • Furniture and curtain installation
  • Furniture disposal
Each of the contractors was asked to provide a detailed quote, timeframe for their works, insurance certificates and references.

We developed a schedule for each of the contractors to come in and undertake the work as specified. We monitored the works with frequent site visits relieving our clients of the stress of managing trade persons.

Furniture Ordering and Installation

While the works were progressing we ordered all the furniture, lighting and accessories. All orders were planned so that long lead time items were ordered first.

When the works were complete we delivered unwrapped and installed all the furniture and accessories.
